Lumberjacks for Kids

Throwing axes. Pitching knives. Rolling a 12-foot log with spikes on poles. This is how the Virginia Tech Forestry Club fights for healthy kids!

The Virginia Tech Forestry Club competed again several other universities at Timberbeast 2018, a daylong competition for future lumberjacks. At the event the forestry students also hosted an auction proceeding our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Carilion Children’s.

By the end of the day, the Virginia Tech Forestry Club had raised $1,700 for CMN, finished 3rd over all, and everyone had a blast. Now that’s enough to make me want to go climb a tree!
