Looking Back at 2019- Walmart & Sam’s Club

Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members in Virginia raised over $100,000 for Carilion Children’s through personal fundraising and during their annual Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals fundraising campaign!

These donations were made as Walmart and Sam’s Club associates at 1southwest Virginia locations held various in-store fundraising activities, asked customers and members to donate at the register, and even dug deep into their own pockets to make a donation. Stores’ fundraisers included everything from grilling out to hosting competitions between employees and managers.

All funds raised for Carilion Children’s are used to ensure every child in need of care receives the best possible care available, as close to home as possible, regardless of their ability to pay. Because of the ongoing support of partners like Walmart and Sam’s Club, Carilion Children’s is able to provide family-centered care through more than 40,000 patient visits each year.

“Walmart and Sam’s Club are crucial community partners for Carilion Children’s.  Their support has a tremendous impact on our efforts to take our comprehensive system of care for children to a higher level,” said Katherine F. Strickland, Chief Development Officer, Carilion Clinic Foundation.

Walmart and Sam’s Club funds impact each of the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which treat one in 10 children across North America. I know I can speak for each and every one of those CMN hospitals when I say we are honored to work with such an amazing community partner.
